Every now and again a game winds up on my steam list wherein I have absolutely no idea how it got there. Maybe someone gifted it to me, maybe I bought it in some swiss-cake-roll induced coma, or maybe there is secretly a ninja hacking into my account making me buy games with Japanese chicks in skimpy outfits.

Actually, upon reading that last line, it probably was just me on during one of my lonelier nights.

Anyway, I started playing this game last night, and I was simply blown away. The graphics are big and chunky, which seems like it would be irritating for a game made past 1994, but it really isn’t. The aesthetic has sort of a Metal Slug vibe, but manages to be a lot prettier. Tons of explosions glow and burst off the screen, and the visual effects are simply spectacular at some points.

Upon looking at the screenshot, you might think this game is hard, and it is, but not quite as hard as it looks. While you are a pretty big target, you don’t take any damage unless the crest on your boobies gets damaged. Moral of the story: protect the tits…Words to live by, really.

Actually, mammaries seem to be a rather big part of the aesthetic. In between levels, you are presented with a rather revealing drawing of an anime chick. I guess you might argue this is fan service, but think of it this way: this game is hard. You deserve a bit of compensation for your hard work.

But perhaps the biggest thing to compliment about this game is the music: it’s fantastic. It’s catchy, well-orchestrated, and will, most definitely be stuck in your head for weeks.

The one of the only big complaints I might have is that there’s no real video options, which means you are stuck with basically a 320p output. It’s not really an issue, but if you have a super widescreen monitor like I do, you’ll have to blackbar it on the sides.

Another issue is that the default keyboard controls suck. Do what I do: quit being so god damned cheap, and buy yourself a USB game pad. Quit lying to yourself and saying you play every game better with a keyboard, quit saying that those pads are too expensive (I bought mine for four bucks), and order one off of amazon. Then configure the controls to your liking. You’re welcome.

This game is four bucks on Steam, and it is most definitely worth it. I hear this game has a port to the PSN as well, but I haven’t played that version. All I can say is that four bucks for a great game and cheap hentai really isn’t a bad deal at all…check it out.

CALL OF DUTY: IRON WOLF RUMOR PRESISTS AND EVOLVES

Although the initial ‘leak’ of these photo was back in August, this is one rumor that just won’t die.

Queue sarcasm in three.. two.. one.. For those who have been living under a rock, Call of Duty is a video gaming series that releases a game every November like clock work. The series for the past several releases has switch back and forth between developers Infinity Ward and Treyarch. Moving on, the latest rumor started back in August. Allegedly a gamer with links to Treyarch was seen playing a title called “Iron Wolf”. “Iron Wolf” is allegedly the next game in the Call of Duty series. Acitivision CEO has stated that a Call of Duty will released next year and OPM has confirmed this stating that Treyarch will develop it and it will be a direct sequel to last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Now more “insider information” has surfaced that claims “Iron Wolf” will be developed by both Treyarch and Blizzard similar to how Modern Warfare 3 was developed by both Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. Also attached to this rumor is a release date, November 6th, 2012. Also “Iron Wolf” would conclude the “World at War” storyline.

Only time will tell if this round of rumors will turn out to be true but being that we are talking about Activision and Call of Duty one thing can be counted on, a Call of Duty game next November.

I’m a bit late on this, but forgive me. Anyway, the awesome site known as 72pins is now officially up and running!

What is it?

72Pins offers classic NES carts with awesome artwork dedicated to games such as God of War, Okami, Bioshock, and even more! Each cart will cost you $20, but hey, it’s totally awesome and totally worth it. I promise.

As an added bonus, the carts also feature classic NES games (No, they’re not de-makes or NES versions of the games shown). But, that’s beside the point. It’s freaking awesome art and that’s just awesome. Yeah.

It’s not about the size of the package but how you use it… Rather, WHAT you use in this case. Specifically let’s talk today about the importance of having really good equipment (mouse, mouse pad and keyboard) that fits your needs, enabling you to compete and pwn at the highest level.

Let’s get some things straight though -

1. Price doesn’t always mean the best (although it should.) You find that this works in a lot of situations IRL as well.

2. Just because you have really good equipment doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to win. It may give you a slight advantage, but you’re still going to need to know how to use the it to its fullest potential.

3. There seems to be a surplus of suppliers out there of gaming equipment that all seem to be pretty decent. More times than not, doing your own research and going with what suits you best will be the best method of deciding on what you want to do work with…

Now that that’s out of the way, even though I said that having good equipment doesn’t just give you wins automatically, I can’t stress to you enough that it also means that it’s going to help you not lose! Having a decent keyboard, mouse and mouse pad are so essential to PC gaming as a baseball bat, glove and helmet is to a baseball player. I would even go so far as to say that even having a mic or solid headset helps if you’re a multiplayer gamer like me, but not AS essential.

Finally, now that you understand the NEED of having quality gear I will follow you up with what I use and some reviews on those products to give you an idea of what to look forward to in upcoming posts…

Here are some things that may or may not change your opinion on Diablo III straight from Blizzard’s announcement this morning (Sorry I’m a little on posting this).

First off: Diablo III will be online-only. You will be unable to play the game offline. Next up: mods will be strictly prohibited. And finally: items that are in the Auction House can be bought and sold with the money in your wallet. These announcements are all via PC Gamer here, here, and here.

In addition to these announcements, Blizzard provided reasoning to each of these announcements:

1) “One of the things that we felt was really important was that if you did play offline, if we allowed for that experience, you’d start a character, you’d get him all the way to level 20 or level 30 or level 40 or what have you, and then at that point you might decide to want to venture onto Battle.net. But you’d have to start a character from scratch, because there’d be no way for us to guarantee no cheats were involved, if we let you play on the client and then take that character online.”

2) “For a variety of gameplay and security reasons, we will not be supporting bots or mods in Diablo III, and they’ll be expressly prohibited by our terms of use for the game.”

3) “We think it’s really going to add a lot of depth to the game. If I have more money than time I can purchase items, or if I’m leet in the game I can get benefits out of it. The players really want it. This is something that we know people are going to do either way. We can provide them a really safe, awesome, fun experience, or they’ll find ways of doing it elsewhere.”

The guys over at Eat Sleep Play are currently embracing the M rating for their upcoming Twisted Metal game on the PS3.

Sounds like it’s worth a shot.

Twisted Metal is expected to launch on the PS3 starting October 4, 2011.
